Le Puit de Monsac
|
I did this painting while visiting
the village of Monsac in the West of France, about
an hour and a half east of Bordeux. I was taken with
this "jolie coin," (pretty corner in English).
The townspeople cared for the corner with great pride,
particularly its centerpiece, the antique pump for
which this painting is named. I especially appreciated
the visits of the local people who were very welcoming
and gracious. As with many of my paintings, my greatest
pleasure in view them is from the triggering of associations
of such warm connections with the people I met while
painting.
