Cap d'Antibes, Phare
|
As I painted manically trying to
catch the rapidly dying evening light on this beautiful
scene in Sept., 2001, I subconsciously caught bits of
the conversations around me that kept referring to America,
New York, Washington, a third world war, disaster, and
other such evocative terms. It shocks me that I was
so far down into the creative zone that I didn't connect
the words enough to ask what had happened. I had never
realized how very deeply I concentrate when I paint.
It was only at dinner later that I found out the terrorist
attacks had just occurred. The remainder of my painting
trip was markedly subdued after that day.
